Overview
- .bn is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Brunei Darussalam.
- Introduced on 3 June 1994 and intended for entities connected with Brunei.
- The registry is BNNIC (Brunei Darussalam Network Information Centre) under the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI).
- DNSSEC is supported.

History
- 1994: .bn was first delegated to Jabatan Telekom Brunei (the national telecommunications operator at the time).
- 2006: A restructure formed Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) and the regulatory Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI); TelBru and AITI became the service provider and regulatory authority for .bn.
- 2012: AITI developed policies, frameworks and guidelines for improved management of .bn; these underwent public consultation in September 2012.
- 2013: AITI created Brunei Darussalam Network Information Centre Sdn Bhd (BNNIC) as the proposed new registry for .bn.
- 24 May 2014: BNNIC requested redelegation of .bn to itself; the redelegation was conceded.

- .net.bn — network providers
- .org.bn — non-profit organisations
- Typical registrants are local (Bruneian) organizations and residents; registration is generally for bona fide local residents.
Registration Rules
- Administration: BNNIC (unit under AITI) manages registrations. Two registrars are listed: Imagine and Datastream Digital.
- Eligibility:
- Registration is open for bona fide local residents; BNNIC may at its discretion allow international non-residents later.
- Bruneian presence is required for registrations under .bn.
- Third-level names (under second-level labels) have restrictions depending on the specific second-level label.
- Reserved or non-permitted names include expressions resembling:

- Maximum label length is 63 characters (excluding the .bn suffix).
- Dispute policy: .bn uses a Brunei Darussalam Dispute Resolution Policy (BDRP).
SEO and Brand Impact
- .bn is the official ccTLD for Brunei, so it signals a Brunei association to users and services.
- DNSSEC support enhances cryptographic assurance of DNS responses, which can improve security and trust for visitors and services using .bn domains.
