- Internationalized ccTLD: In January 2010 Saudi Arabia's Arabic IDN ccTLD (السعودية, xn--mgberp4a5d4ar) passed ICANN's Fast Track String Evaluation.

Registration Rules
Eligibility and requirements:
- Registrants must demonstrate a Saudi connection, which can include:
- An entity physically located in Saudi Arabia;
- A natural person with Saudi nationality or Premium Residency;
- An entity with a registration or license issued by a relevant Saudi authority;
- An owner of a trade name or trademark registered in Saudi Arabia.
- Registrants must provide legal documents verifying identity and relationship to the domain name.
Registrant warranties and prohibited uses:
- Registrants must warrant that the domain is related to them and not registered or used in bad faith, to impersonate others, or to infringe rights.
- Domains must not be used to defame, violate Saudi law, or permit third-party use without prior consent of SaudiNIC.
- Prohibited activities include (but are not limited to):
- Preventing others from registering names, resale through unlicensed parties, cybersquatting, phishing, fraudulent data collection, spamming, malware distribution, domain hijacking, denial-of-service activities;
- Content or activities against Islamic religion or Saudi laws (examples listed by the registry include pornography, illegal drugs, alcohol, gambling, and intellectual property piracy);
- Other activities classified as information crimes under applicable regulations.
Technical and label rules:
- Labels must be between 2 and 63 characters.
- First and last character must be a letter or number.
- No two consecutive hyphens are allowed.
- Only Latin letters (a–z), digits (0–9) and the hyphen (-) are accepted for .sa labels.
Notable Cases or Examples
- The Arabic IDN ccTLD السعودية (xn--mgberp4a5d4ar) was among the first IDN ccTLD strings to pass ICANN's Fast Track String Evaluation in January 2010.
